Track Biography:

Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Fairwood Park also plays host to the Tinahely Agricultural Show each summer which is one of Ireland's longest running agricultural show.

Jamie Codd, who is the second winning-most point-to-point rider in the history of the sport became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.

Previous track winners to have won at Tinahely include former Grade One winner Fundamentalist and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own.

Tinahely is situated in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, the garden of Ireland. Located just an hour and half from the bustle of Dublin city, Tinahely is a pretty village in south west Wicklow that offers a variety of walking opportunities and a gateway to the beautiful Irish landscape.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin – Take the M50 southbound and turn onto the M11. At Junction 16, take the R772 to Rathnew. Continue on the R752/753 where the track will be sign posted.

From Waterford – Take the N9 until junction 5 where you need to take the N80 exit for Carlow/Rosslare.

By Air

Tinahely point-to-point is located an hour and forty minutes from Dublin airport.

Our car parking area is situated beside to the track which offers race goers the chance to get close to the action without having to leave their car.

This also provides an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic from the boot of your car while you enjoy the days racing.

Disabled toilet facilities are also provided at the track. 

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

 

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies which means you don’t have to venture too far from the action to purchase some snacks.

You can choose from an array of hot food options such as burgers and chips to bacon and sausage rolls as well as confectionaries for children of which all are reasonably priced.

Our hard working committee members also supply a delicious selection of homemade cakes, buns and sandwiches.

 

Race goers have plenty of choice; our committee members along with supplying a selection of tasty treats also serve tea and coffee.

Our outside caterer will have range of refreshments and hot drinks on offer.

Something to suit everyone and keep them warm ahead of the days racing!

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments. We also have a range of catering options on course if you don?t fancy packing a picnic for the day.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop at the ATM in Tinahely village on your way to the races.

Tinahely point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the heart of the Irish countryside.

An added bonus for parents is that all children U16 have free admission.

Spectators will get the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race.

Nothing beats the excitement of the closing stages of a race and our track ensures that you have a birdseye view.

Our point-to-point is located under an hour from the picturesque Glendalough and Glenmacnass Waterfall North of Laragh on the Sally Gap Road.
