Track Biography:

The Kilmoganny Hunt was officially founded in 1918.

The Kilmoganny Foxhounds have held their annual fixtures at a number of tracks, including Clonmel Racecourse, Cregg, Kilsheelan before moving to it's current location at Mainstown in 2015.

The point-to-point committee have been big supporters of lady riders races stretching back over 90 years.

It is a left-handed track that is run over two and a half circuits which has some great viewing spots for race goers.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin – junction 10 off the M9 for Carrick On Suir, go through the villages of Newmarket and Kilmoganny keep heading towards Carrick on Suir. The track will be signposted from the village of Faugheen.

From Waterford – Go through Carrick on Suir and head for Faugheen where there will be signposts for the track.

Mainstown point-to-point is located one hour from Cork airport and two hours from Dublin airport.

We have an extensive car parking area which offers a brilliant view of the whole track.
 
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

One of the real joys of point-to-point racing is the proximitiy to the action, from checking out the horses in the parade ring to enjoying the racing from the sidelines.

This is the perfect family day out where you will get to see some of the future stars of the equine world.  

Our outside food caterers sell an array of hot food options such as burgers and chips to bacon and sausage rolls to keep you full during the day.

There will be a confectionery stall offering a full range of sweet treats including chocolate, crisps and soft drinks. 

Our hunt committee also offer a range of home-made treats which are not to be missed!

Race goers have a selection of beverages.

For those looking to warm themselves up in between races, tea and coffee are available from our outside caterer.

There will also be soft drinks on offer for the younger spectators.

 

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments. We also have a range of catering options on course if you don't fancy packing a picnic for the day.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop at an ATM on your way to the races if you are passing through Carrick-on-Suir or Knocktopher.

Mainstown point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the heart of the Irish countryside. An added bonus for parents is that all children U16 have free admission.

Our point-to-point is located only 30 minutes from Waterford city which is one of Ireland’s oldest cities and has an endless amount of attractions for all ages to explore.

As our point-to-point meeting is run so close to Christmas, Santa and Mrs Claus are known to visit our meeting and enjoy meeting the children who are there on the day.  They may even have some presents for those who are very well behaved!
